The Sylvania Area Historical Society houses an extensive collection of objects, photographs and archival materials from all periods of Sylvania's history. Our collections range from textiles and period clothing to household goods and farm implements.  These items reveal the stories of the many individuals, families and businesses that have had past or present connections to our area.
Our collections are available to researchers during museum hours, Saturdays and Sundays from 1pm-4pm. We can assist with finding information at that time, or we are also available for Genealogy services on Tuesdays from 10am-noon.

Do You Have an Item to Donate to the Society?

The Sylvania Area Historical Society maintains many collections. New items are acquired in a number of ways, including selected donations from members of the public.

Before an item is acquired for our collections, it undergoes a rigorous review process. Not all items are accepted, because not everything is appropriate for our collections, and because it is expensive to care for and provide access to collection items.

If you are interested in donating items, please call 419-517-5524.  SAHS members will also be available at the museum on Tuesdays from 10am-noon to accept donated items.
